On Thursday, August 14, Governor Rick Scott visited the Lakeland National Guard Armory and honored nearly 300 veterans with the Florida Governor’s Veterans Service Award. District Seven’s very own Brian Beaty was one of the recipients honored by the governor for his service to our country and to the State of Florida. Beaty, a Government Liaison Specialist in District Seven’s Intermodal Systems Development department, served 23 years in the United States Air Force before beginning his career with FDOT.
Brian has been with the department for nearly 15 years, and was very honored at the opportunity to be recognized by Gov. Scott. “I think that Governor Scott’s initiative is a great way of thanking all of Florida’s military veterans for their service,” he said. “I am honored to have received this recognition, and would encourage all my fellow DOT-ers that also served in the armed forces to step forward, attend one of the ceremonies held in their area and receive their award.”
